Discretionary Funding
Eligibility criteria:
- Project must directly benefit the residents of the Westland District.
- Generally applications from private profit making organisations or individuals will not be considered.
- Applicants should have made a contribution towards the project for which funding is sought. Volunteer hours and labour may be considered as a contribution.
- There must be a demonstrated need for additional funding.
- Funds will not be available for the repayment of loans.
- Generally, funding will not be considered for operational expenses (eg salaries, rents, administration costs etc.)
- Applications must be on the official form obtained from the Council office.
- On the expenditure of the funds and/or the completion of the project, an accountability form must be submitted to Council within the time-frame as determined at the time of approval of the funding. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in funds being requested to be returned and prejudice any future applications made by the organisation.
- Funds must be wholly expended within the agreed project time-frame.
- Any funds not expended on the project must be returned to the Westland District Council so that they may be redistributed.
- Priorities will be given to projects which enhance the existing community support programmes where additional resources are required.
- Organisations applying for funding will be required to provide a statement of the organisation's financial position.
- Grants may be made for capital projects, buildings or significant equipment purchases.

Solid Energy Amateur Sports Trust
The object of the trust is to assist amateur sports people in the Buller/Westland region who have been recognised by their sports body to have potential to reach representative level, to participate in training and/or competition that will help them towards reaching a goal in their chosen sport.
