New Household Reuse and Recycling Centres
Your new Household Reuse and Recycling Centres are now open at the Hokitika Transfer Station (The Magpies Nest) and the Franz Josef Transfer Station (The Weka’s Nest). The centres are designed to receive materials such as household items, furniture, cutlery, crockery plants, garden, sporting and agriculture equipment.
We also accept paper, glass, plastic bottles, cans and cardboard for recycling.
Sorting your recycling into different categories before arriving will help speed up your visit.
Sales from reusable items help offset the increased costs of recycling especially handling lightweight materials such as plastics. Items will be offered for sale.
Remember ‘One person’s junk is another person’s treasure’.
