Dog and Stock Control

All dogs within the District must be kept under effective control at all times, registered and properly cared for. While Council is responsible for dog policy, control services are contracted out to Faye Lapthorne.

Public Notification of the Proposed Amended Policy on Dogs

The Westland District Council hereby gives notice to publicly notify an amended Policy on Dogs under section 83 of the Local Government Act 2002. The Council has resolved to amend the policy to provide forchanges that place a greater emphasis on Council’s involvement with the welfare of dogs and provides for the possibility of a strategic alliance to be entered into with the SPCA. A further change made relates to providing for flexibility in setting fees for dog registration. View further information on the Proposed Amended Policy.
