This unique role has a broad range of responsibilities covering brand management, sponsorship, visitor information and events. It’s a strategic role where you will ensure the positioning and ongoing management of the Wild at Heart brand for consistency and to leverage better visitor understanding, confidence and access to Westland. Leading a talented and experienced team you will oversee sponsorship and events, and take a lead role in negotiating with partners to ensure greater exposure and benefit to Westland.
As the successful candidate you will need to have demonstrated experience in the strategic development, alignment and leverage of brands, plus sponsorship and event management. You will have excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to develop and facilitate strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. This is a great role that will draw on your strong leadership, creativity, initiative and motivation.
The new Wild at Heart Business Unit will combine the management of Westland District Council’s Events Department with the Westland Visitors i-site and the West Coast Historical Museum, in Hokitika.
Activities undertaken by the new business unit will include marketing Westland as a place to visit, work and live by managing Westland events, promoting the Visitor Centre and the Museum under one General Manager and an advisory Board.
The strong brand awareness, marketing leverage and profitability of the Wildfoods Festival will be a major factor in the success of the new business unit.
As a member of the Wild at Heart team the position holder is expected to have a strategic, creative and entrepreneurial approach to the Business Unit’s activities and to provide leadership in inspiring this approach in others to develop a creative, collaborative team culture.
Reporting to the Wild at Heart Board, this newly established position has a high level of responsibility for developing and implementing the Unit’s business development strategy and ensuring that the annual revenue targets are achieved.
As a key member of the Wild at Heart Business Unit you will inspire a strong commercial ethos within the team, using your business acumen and collaborative working style to ensure an approach to program development that is financially sound while respecting the Business Unit’s core purpose and values.
